I'm Kevin Llanes, a recent Computer Science graduate from the University of Caloocan City. I started out as a graphic designer, kept the eye for interfaces, and picked up the engineering to build across the full stack. Somewhere along the way, building personal apps and hosting things myself became my favorite part.
During school, I focused on building systems that actually get used. I served as lead app developer and IoT engineer for M.A.S.H. (Mushroom Automation with Smart Hydro-environment), headed frontend on SAGE.AI, and managed full-stack development for the point-of-sale and management system that J'5 Pharmacy relies on daily. Before writing code, over a decade of graphic design taught me an enduring rule: interfaces exist for people, not portfolios.
That blend of design instinct, project leadership, and full-stack engineering is what I bring to the table. I’m looking for real systems, candid feedback, and space to grow from junior to genuinely dependable. I prioritize readable code, considerate UX, and shipping small, frequent iterations rather than stalling on oversized releases.
Experience
Worked as a Frontend developer on a four-person team, migrating the Digital Learning Resources team’s native PHP system to a modern stack using Laravel and React.
Led a team of seven developers to build a pharmacy management and point-of-sale system. The software is used daily by staff, covering everything from the data model to the user interface.
More than a decade of client print and design work: layouts, branding, and delivering on deadlines.
Handled both the embedded systems and mobile client for an automated hydro-environment chamber. I developed the firmware across a Raspberry Pi 3 and Arduino Uno for sensor acquisition and environmental control, and built a companion Flutter app for real-time telemetry and remote monitoring. To ensure reliability in the field, I implemented device-to-API communication protocols, over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates, and offline SQLite caching.
Led frontend engineering and UI/UX design for a story-adaptive game engine. I established the core design system and component architecture from scratch, ensuring the rest of the team had modular, consistent building blocks to work with. My focus was bridging visual design and frontend code—turning complex adaptive narrative logic into clean, responsive interfaces.
Developed EvoSim for a Computational Science course as a group-assigned project, independently handling the core implementation and technical deliverables, including the Python simulation, AI decision-making system, evolutionary algorithms, and project documentation. The simulation uses neural networks and genetic algorithms to evolve animal behavior in a dynamic survival environment, combining computational modeling, resource management, and survival mechanics. I was responsible for translating the project concept into a working simulation and documenting its architecture and implementation.
Education
Graduated in 2026 (Batch 2026). Coursework included data structures and algorithms, database systems, computer networking, software engineering, and computational science. Applied these foundations through collaborative software projects involving full-stack development, AI-driven simulation, and IoT systems.
Completed the STEM strand with a general weighted average of 94. Developed a foundation in mathematics, scientific reasoning, and analytical problem-solving.
